Weekly Roundup

Mar 26th, 2010 by GemmaAdd Comment

Welcome to a new, test idea for Curious Confections. A weekly line up of blogs and articles that have interested us, news pertaining to the community, and anything else we think you might like.

Starting off, a brief post from Addie Broyles at Relish Austin with some information on the Farmers Market fiasco happening down in Sunset Valley. We are pleased to say that despite all the rumours that were flying around there is still a market down in Sunset Valley, with a few changes, but still going strong. There is now a new market at Barton Creek Mall, we have yet to visit that one to see what it’s like.

Ree Drummond aka The Pioneer Woman has been picked up by Columbia Pictures. For the past year she’s been writing, in instalments, the story of how she met her Marlboro Man and moved from the city to the middle of no-where. Due to be published next year. Most of the interest seems to be centred around the rumour that she would be played by Reese Witherspoon.

The Chancellor of LSU has proposed an onsite brewery. While CC strongly supports micro-brewers, a brewery on campus sounds like a recipe for trouble to us!

In the past couple of weeks the creators of Failblog and I Can Haz Cheezburger have created another food blog to run aside Epicute. Welcome to the world My Food Looks Funny.

The crawfish season seems to be off to a slow start thanks to the unusually cold winter. The consensus seems to be that it’ll pick up along with the weather. Fingers crossed as we’ll be holding our annual crawfish boil here at CC in the coming weeks.

So, let us know what you think of the new roundup, and any news you’d like to see us talking about.
