Cthulhu Cake

la! la! Cthulhu Fthagn!

All hail the Greatest of Old Ones, worshiped by cultists and feared.

How to turn something that is described as unspeakable or the “sticky spawn of stars” into cake. Thankfully some brave souls lingered and before the madness took them described “a monster of vaguely anthropoid outline, but with an octopus-like head whose face was a mass of feelers, a scaly, rubbery-looking body, prodigious claws on hind and fore feet, and long, narrow wings behind.” Now that, we can work with.

Also, the little figurine that sits atop my computer provided design inspiration!

Based out of butter cake, with vanilla buttercream. He stands about 9″ tall, with about a 6″ diameter. Sculpted by hand and then covered in fondant. Apricot glaze provided the wonderful sticky, slimy shine. And the birthday boy himself was the victim, being slowly devoured.
